Edward Lear was an English artist and illustrator known for his literary nonsense in poetry, prose and especially limericks. This alphabet mug is adapted from one of Lear's pen and ink drawings in our collection, which dates back to 1880. Featuring the letter R alongside a mischievous rat, it’s finished with a rusty red handle.
