This beautiful scarf has been created from the design of a poster by Jules Chéret, housed in the V&A collection. It was an advertisement for the debut of American dancer, Loïe Fuller (1862-1928) at the Folies-Bergère in 1893. She caused a sensation when she first appeared in Paris performing her 'Serpentine' dance, whirling across the stage in diaphanous costume.
