Richard Brendon has selected four of his favourite patterns from the museum’s vast archives to reimagine with playful and whimsical twists. The Tree of Life design seen on this bone china cup and saucer features a beautifully intricate tree with 22k gold detailing for the leaves, inspired by the early 19th century patterns of Ridgway and Spode. This mesmerising reinterpretation of a traditional porcelain pattern features whimsical details including a mother woodpecker feeding her chick and a surreal giant caterpillar. When the reflective cup is placed onto the patterned antique saucer, it perfectly mirrors the design below, making it appear as though the pair have always belonged together.
 
Bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary design, Richard Brendon design and produce distinctive yet functional bone china with a recognisable flair. Each piece is made by master craftspeople in the potteries of Stoke-on-Trent, benefiting from the town’s generations of knowledge and experience while supporting heritage British industry.
