Details
This assorted pack of 42 squares of high-quality printed cotton fabric is part of a new collection from Moda Fabrics, focussing on the work of Mary ‘May’ Morris, daughter of William Morris. An influential designer, teacher and embroidery pioneer, May embraced free-form embroidery with an emphasis on free-hand stitching, delicate shading and artistic expression. This collection reflects May’s elegant style and the influence of her father on her work, with natural designs coloured in rich, vibrant hues. The pre-cut squares are perfect for patchworking and other craft projects.

About the designer
William Morris

William Morris

Textile designer, writer and social pioneer, William Morris and his work have long been associated with the V&A. In 1865, his company was commissioned to design the West Dining Room at the museum, which features early examples of a number of the organic patterns that would make his name. Born in Walthamstow in 1836, Morris was captivated by nature from childhood, spending much of his time exploring Epping Forest and the surrounding countryside. These themes informed much of his textile design, and his mastery of pattern ensured an enduring appeal.
