Inspired by the intricate elegance of the botanical, Michael Michaud uses a unique approach to create exquisitely detailed and beautiful jewellery. In a process similar to the traditional technique of lost-wax casting, Michaud takes actual leaves, petals and branches and carefully surrounds them in clay. When heated, a perfect mould is left as the plant matter burns away. Bronze casts are then made from the moulds, before being hand decorated.
The delicate earrings feature blossom and foliage with hand-painted glass lemon drops. The range recalls the fruit panels in the V&A Refreshment Rooms, decorated by William Morris and his firm.
Approx. 2cm width, 3cm drop

About the designer
Creating moulds directly from nature, Michael Michaud’s exquisitely detailed pieces are made using a process similar to lost-wax casting, with actual plant matter encased, then heated and burnt away to form his moulds.
Michaud’s natural forms and textures are complimented with soft patinas on bronze, accented with pearls, beads, coral and stones.
