Inspired by the fabric, wallpaper and tapestry collections at the V&A, Lucille Clerc has imagined the life of the museum in the quiet hours of the night.
 
In this opulent narrative illustration, all kinds of living creatures, animal, botanical and mythological, come to life, transforming the museum into a fantastical secret garden. This wonderfully rich artwork is filled with decorative and architectural details observed on site, with references to the Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Indian, Medieval, and Arts & Crafts collections.
 
 
French illustrator Lucille Clerc set up her studio in East London after graduating from Central Saint Martins with an MA in Communication Design. Her work takes inspiration from London’s architecture and the relationship between nature and urbanisation.
