Sussex-based artist and illustrator Camilla Perkins has delved into the V&A’s extensive collection of costumes from the Ballet Russes, the Russian dance company that revolutionised the art and styles of the early 20th century. Camilla’s depiction of two dancers places the viewer in the audience of a spectacular production, admiring the bejewelled costumes and exquisite craftsmanship.
Living and working in Lewes, Camilla takes inspiration from everyday flora, fauna and human forms, elevated with imagination to create her brightly coloured, heavily patterned images.
Created exclusively for the V&A.
