Details
This print is based on an original wooden assemblage created by Emily Forgot exclusively for the V&A, representing the Grand Entrance, the central threshold at the museum. The pieces are photographed then digitally manipulated, to reflect the shadow and depth of the original pieces. Emily Forgot’s unique creations inhabit the curious space between 2D and 3D, taking inspiration from real locations and refracting them through the prism of her own practice. Emily records drawings in a sketchbook, then alters and simplifies her sketches to create minimal designs with a strong sense of space that are created using layers of painted wood. The colours used are inspired by different elements of the museum’s historic style, relating to the existing space.
