William De Morgan
William De Morgan was one of the most innovative ceramic designers of his day. His particular passion was the development of patterns and colours inspired by the arts of the Islamic world. De Morgan spent many years experimenting with techniques and was particularly famed for his boldly coloured lustrewares. A lifelong friend of William Morris, he designed tiles, stained glass and furniture for Morris & Co. from 1863 to 1872.
