National Art Library enquiry services are coming back online

November 9, 2020

As manager of the onsite public services at The National Art Library, I’ve greatly missed seeing all of our regular readers and meeting any new visitors who explore our reading rooms every day.

Since the Library, along with the rest of the Museum, closed its doors in mid March, our staff have been either working from home or on furlough, but we’ve been excitedly waiting to tell you when we can bring our services back, while carefully planning how we can do this in the safest way.

I’m delighted to say that moment has arrived!

The first phase of our re-opening will be the re-introduction of our online service.  With the return of Library staff, from the 16th November we will once again be able to respond promptly to your enquiries and copying requests.

Unfortunately, our current building work means that the reading rooms will stay closed for the Winter. We’ll share further news on the re-opening date as soon as we have it.  When we do open our doors, prepare yourself for our beautifully refurbished glass roof and splendid new floor covering – you’ll literally be getting the red carpet treatment the next time you visit.

So, sadly although our readership won’t initially be able to access our library collections in person, we’ll bring them to you in whatever way we can. Please get in touch with us via our online enquiry form for information and to see how we can help you further.

Do you run a book club and writing club at your library, I would be very much interested in joining, many thanks.
