Led by
afromerm and
Rhianna Compton, this workshop invites participants to return to the question of why we make through an exploration of voice and mark-making. Working with graphic scores, participants will engage in playful exercises that bring together sound, drawing and improvisation, using tools and instincts they already have to create new forms of expression.
Set against the backdrop of the museum’s rooftop horizon, the session offers a space to experiment collectively, moving between listening, sounding and visual composition. Through open-ended prompts and shared exploration, participants will develop graphic scores that can be activated through voice, shaping a dynamic exchange between image and sound.
As part of the
First Breath programme, the workshop contributes to a broader exploration of collective making, where ideas emerge through interaction and attention rather than fixed outcomes.
The session is open to all ages and levels of experience. No prior knowledge of musical notation or graphic scores is required.
Filming and photography will take place at this event.
