Follow the lives and craft of the few men who still practice the traditional technique of cotton appliqué embroidery to make amazing textile pictures. Filmed across three years, against the background of the January 2011 Revolution and the political events leading to the election of President Sisi in 2014, this film tells the moving story of upheaval in Egyptian society through the microcosm of one street devoted to a uniquely Egyptian craft.

This free screening coincides with the two-day V&A conference, Middle Eastern Crafts: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Attendees must hold a separate ticket to the screening and be seated by 18.50, at which time standby tickets will be made available on a first come, first served basis.
