Lunchtime Lecture: Dehua vs Jingdezhen – Encountering the ‘Porcelain Cities’ of China photo

Dehua in Fujian province and Jingdezhen in Jiangxi province have been important production hubs in the history of Chinese ceramics. Today, industrial production and artistic creativity still thrive in both cities – but in very different ways. This panel discussion will bring together three ceramicists – Felicity Aylieff, Lucille Lewin and Peter Ting – to talk about their encounters with these towns, how they work with local crafts people and how the experiences have shaped their practices.
