Lunchtime Lecture: Culture in Crisis: Listing to Last - Preserving the UK’s Built Heritage photo

Join us for a lively discussion with representatives from The World Monuments Fund, The 20th Century Society and Historic England to hear about how we preserve exceptional elements of our built heritage, and why.

With the growing speed of urban development in our cities jostling against a desire to preserve the best of the past, we ask the experts how their organisations prioritise, protest for and successfully preserve our ‘at risk’ built heritage.

From stately homes to social housing, we look at what makes these structures special and what merits their protection. Looking back at how the process of listing and broader efforts to protect have developed in recent decades; harnessing the power of social media and fuelling greater social engagement within communities, we reflect on how these changes are helping inform the process to preserve for the future, both in the UK and beyond.
