Sumi Painting with Koshu

Master Koshu will teach you the fundamental techniques and guide you through the creative process. In the first workshop, you will learn basic brush movements and ink control techniques, which you will use to create two of the Shikunshi (‘Four Gentlemen’) artworks, the orchid flower and bamboo. The second workshop will build on the previously covered techniques and explore bokashi (ink blurring) to paint koi fish in a pond. In the afternoon, you will learn how to put the backing paper to strengthen and straighten your artworks in preparation for framing.
No previous experience or equipment is required, just bring yourself and enjoy the act of creation with Koshu. Ages 18+
