Sansetsukon x Es Devlin: MILK
Through dance, sound, light and shadow, dance collective Sansetsukon responds to Es Devlin’s installation The Everythingists, exploring ideas of old and new art, technology and transformation in a new live performance.
In MILK, Sansetsukon brings movement into the gallery, creating a dialogue between the performers, The Everythingists and the surrounding space.
The performance draws on influences behind Devlin’s installation, including Rayonism and its idea of ‘new’ art doing battle with the old. It also responds to Devlin’s ideas of ‘centaurs’ (humans empowered by machines) and ‘reverse-centaurs’ (machines empowered by humans), exploring the relationship between people, technology and creativity.
Dancers move through and around the gallery to a soundscape created by layering and reworking audio from The Everythingists. Light and shadow interact with the performers and surrounding space, offering audiences a new way to experience Devlin’s installation.
MILK is a 25–30 minute performance taking place at 2pm, 5pm and 8pm.
