V&A East Educators Connect: The Music is Black

Join us for an Educators Connect session exploring V&A East’s inaugural exhibition, The Music is Black: A British Story. In this twilight session, we’ll look at the objects, stories and themes in the exhibition, focusing on connections between music and the visual arts and the work of Black British artists, including Frank Bowling. We’ll share ideas and practical starting points for bringing elements of the exhibition into your classroom, and ways to inspire students to engage with the creativity and lasting impact of Black artists on music and visual culture.
 

Drinks and welcome will take place from 4.30-5pm. From 7pm, there will be free entry to the exhibition for those who would like to explore further. 

The session is designed with KS3–5 teaching in mind, but all teachers and educators are welcome.

 

There will also be a Part 2 in-person session at Frank Bowling Studios in South London on Saturday 17 October, where we’ll take a closer look at Bowling’s practice and work. Booking details for this follow-up event will be shared soon.
