Experience a fresh reimagining of Le Train Bleu, the iconic one-act ballet originally staged in 1924.

As you enter the space, you’ll be wowed by a spectacular backdrop: the largest Picasso work in the world and original front cloth of the ballet, a dramatic enlargement of Picasso’s work Deux Femmes Courant sur La Place. 10m tall, it has rarely been seen on public display until the opening of V&A East Storehouse.

Enjoy a playful performance starring ten artists from English National Ballet, in a new version of Le Train Bleu, by Stina Quagebeur, the company’s Associate Choreographer. Full of energy and humour, their dancing captures the spirit of the original ballet and its characters: tennis players, swimmers and tourists on the French Riviera of the 1920s.

The brand-new costumes are inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s original designs, which timelessly evoke the period.

This one-of-a-kind tribute breathes new life into the classic ballet. This fresh interpretation honours the legacy of the work’s legendary collaborators whilst celebrating the breathtaking skills of today’s dance talents.
