The V&A has collected copies in plaster, electrotype and photography since its inception. Joining us to discuss the functions and fates of historic copy collections will be experts from Goldsmiths, University of London, Crawford Art Gallery, University of Glasgow, Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, Sir John Soane's Museum, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and many more. Learn more about the ongoing value and interest of copying in the digital age, and how conservation work helps our understanding of the material and behaviour of plaster casts and electrotypes.
Tickets for the conference are £40 per day with discounts available for students and concessions.
On Thursday 17 and Friday 18 January the conference will discuss historic cast collections, and the future of reproductions in the digital age.
On Saturday 19 January the conference will focus specifically on the conservation of historic cast collections.
