Join us in Open Studio with Madeline Tanoto to learn about the ancient Japanese Art of stitch repair called sashiko. Experiment with using patches to not only mend but also decorate and embellish and discover how simple skills like patching, mending, & sashiko stitching can breathe new life into the clothes we already own.

This workshop is for ages 8-14, children must be accompanied by an adult, Last admission 15:30.
You may bring an item of clothing or create your own sashiko Patch to take home.

Madeline Tanoto is the founding Director of Mads do & Mend CIC, where our social mission is to empower people and communities to mend their clothes and themselves through craft and creativity. She specialises in teaching textile mending and repair techniques as well as encouraging people to use different creative skills to re-fashion our clothing and think differently about how we can re-use, repair and restore textiles.
