Why We Begin

This opening session begins with an exploration of the V&A East Museum Why We Make galleries. Encountering objects that reflect the lived creative histories and innovations of east London's communities. At the V&A East Museum, the collective exploration will become a starting point for conversations.  Reflecting on what drives any creative act to begin. What impulse sits behind the decision to make something? Survival, expression, protest, connection, love?

This session is facilitated by Tito Mogaji. He is the founder of Nourishment, a community and cultural agency focused on connecting underrepresented communities with arts and culture through curated experiences, campaigns and partnerships.

*The meeting point for this session will be outside of the main gallery entrance located on the Upper Ground floor, V&A East Museum.

This event is for anyone living, working or studying in east London, aged 18+, emerging to established within the creative sector.  Booking is essential with limited spaces for on the day drop-in.

As part of the Ideas Exchange programme of interactive talks, this event will be documented through film, photography and live artist interpretation.
