The rich culture of Mexico’s textile heritage provides a riot of colour and texture. Kate Clark, co-founder of Montes and Clark, will talk through and show you examples of textiles from the communities that she works with as part of her interiors company. You will learn Mexican embroidery techniques such as, Otomi embroidery, pattern darning and various other decorative stitches that are commonly used. Throughout we will reference closely our Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up exhibition, looking at the stitching and weaving that adorned her blouses and Huipils.
