Step inside a textile studio!
Your students will learn textile techniques from artists and designers, including weaving, pattern cutting, knitting, heat pressing and more. Each activity will provide the opportunity to create samples to take back to school.
Activites will be led by inspiring creative practitioners, including:
Becky Sloan: Becky is a film maker specialising in costume, puppet design and set design and is the co-creator of the surreal puppet series Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. Her vibrant work uses a wide range of textile making techniques and repurposing everyday items.
Dalia James: Dalia is an artist and designer. As a handweaver, the connection between her and the cloth she creates is essential to her practice. Rooted in a sustainable practice that explore natural dye techniques Dalia’s work focuses on colour and geometry and explores the relationship between the two.
This event is aimed at learners aged 11-14. Activities will take place in the Portal Trust Community Room, Open Studio and The Shed.
