Past Event

Explore the innovation of Medieval and Renaissance sculpture and carvings with V&A guide John Harbord-Hamond. You'll discover the significance of certain pre-Renaissance works and gain insight into the social and cultural context that influenced their creation. Next, you will delve into the world of Renaissance sculpture, exploring the works of Donatello's contemporaries such as Mattia di Nanni and Bartolomeo Buon. Finally, the works of Donatello's successors, including Veit Stoss and the Della Robbia family will be examined, and you will gain an understanding of the evolution of Renaissance art and the impact that Donatello's work had on subsequent generations of artists.

Tour end times are approximate and may vary to what is shown. Optional light refreshments will be served after the tour in the Members' Room.
