Come along to our Sensory Friendly session, a relaxed creative space for neurodiverse families.
As a family you’ll get to design, create and experiment with a mixture of different art materials, exploring four interactive stations inspired by the natural world as you work together to build a communal fantasy garden. Inspired by the V&A collection, this relaxed session encourages creativity and collaboration.
This session has been created by
Alice Burnhope, an award-winning textile artist who creates spaces for families to connect through making, play and shared experiences.
This is an activity for families where either a child or the parent/ carer/ guardian is neurodivergent or has a sensory processing disorder. This is a free, drop-in event for families to enjoy all together; no child can be left unattended. Suitable for ages 5+.
All activities are optional, and you can visit at any point during the event timings, between 11am - 4pm. However, please book your tickets to give us an idea if you’re likely to visit us earlier 11am-1:30pm, or later in the day 1:30-4pm.
If you need a break, there will be a breakout space available through the day, with one within the event space and the other nearby. This space will have: a blackout tent, cushions, sensory toys, and ear defenders.
All materials will be provided, no previous creative experience is necessary. Siblings, family members, and carers of all ages are all welcome (please book a space for each person attending).
The Museum is accessible and step-free. Please find further information by clicking
