How We Made It with Sahra Hersi photo
Join east London-based artist and spatial designer Sahra Hersi for an evening of reflection on her creative practice, which she describes as ‘caring about people, places, art & architecture in that order’.

Hersi’s practice explores shared spaces, the public realm, collaboration and community engagement. Ranging in scale from zines and workshops to public realm interventions and buildings, Hersi works with local councils and cultural organisations to engage local communities in reinterpreting architectural methodology and artistic narrative.

In 2026 Hersi curated one of the inaugural X Selects displays in V&A East Museum’s Why We Make galleries, responding to the theme of ‘Making East London’. X Selects invites two creative practitioners (artists, designers, collectives) to delve into the V&A’s collections and develop their own capsule display in the galleries.

In conversation with V&A East Curator Chloe Kellow, Hersi will expand on the process of developing the display and reflecting on her journey into making.

See Hersi’s display at V&A East Museum until Sunday 8 November 2026.
