At this book reading and draw-along you will hear illustrator Beth Suzanna read from her debut picture book The Missing Piece. She will then lead a creative activity inspired by the book which will invite you to play and connect with others while developing illustration skills.

Beth Suzanna is a London based illustrator whose uplifting work is rooted in colour and connection. Creating work for picture books, programmes, covers and campaigns. Beth’s work has a strong focus on community and diversity, Using bold figurative paper cut shapes or expressive pastel line to create tactile, playful and human work.

Beth's debut picture book The Missing Piece received five award nominations including being Shortlisted for The 2023 Waterstones Children's Book Prize and the 2024 Inclusive Books for Children awards.

The Missing Piece, written by author Jordan Stephens, illustrated by Beth Suzanna and published by Bloomsbury is a heart-warming story exploring family, friendship and what makes us feel whole. When making jigsaws is the only thing that makes Sunny feel complete, her Gran gives her an extra-special jigsaw puzzle. Sunny goes on a journey to find the last part of the puzzle but when exploring Gran’s street and making new friends, she realises she was missing more than just a jigsaw piece!
