Join us for an extraordinary journey through representations of Black subjects in Western art, from Medieval Europe to the present day, as reimagined in Brathwaite’s series and accompanying book, Rediscovering Black Portraiture (Getty Publications).

In conversation with senior curator of Paintings and Drawings Jenny Gaschke, the talk will delve into his playful and provocative juxtapositions that allow us to reimagine agency, representation, and embodiment.

This talk will be held on Zoom and all ticket holders will receive a link to view the morning of the talk.
