Following the session, V&A Tour Guide Nikke Ariff will take you on a bespoke tour of the museum in support of Refugee Week 2018. This short tour will explore objects in the V&A’s collection that identify an individual’s country of origin, professed religion, political alignment or social strata. Throughout history, events have forced people to flee their homes under duress and visual badges that provide the owner with a sense of belonging and the viewer, with a perceived visual identifier become more important. As we canter through the galleries we will consider what it means today to be a "citizen of the world".
