Neil Brownsword: Pattern Book with Paul Holdway photo

Former Spode engraver Paul Holdway has been specially commissioned to replicate one of Brownsword’s digital re-imaginings of this history, into a copper plate for ceramic print – offering a rare opportunity to experience the nuances of an industrial craft seldom practiced.

For nearly two decades Neil Brownsword has highlighted endangered forms of intangible heritage specific to Stoke-on-Trent’s ceramics industry. His recent residency at the V&A extends this activism, driven forward by the museum’s historic collections of North Staffordshire ceramics. These have informed the development of Brownsword’s own pattern book, which will be activated in this live event.
