David Bowie-Inspired Poetry Workshop
Join Dr Claire Watt for a free poetry workshop, using items from the David Bowie Archive
In this two-hour workshop, Dr Claire Watt will lead a poetry-writing session, using methods employed by David Bowie in his songwriting as inspiration. From the cut-up method to oblique strategy cards, dive into Bowie’s own resources from the David Bowie Archive to create something new and exciting.
This event is free but ticket numbers are limited, so please book a place. It will be a small, intimate group with a welcoming environment and there is no need to share your writing if you do not wish to do so. We will be viewing items from the David Bowie Archive so there will be restrictions on food and drink.
About Claire Watt
Dr Claire Watt is the David Bowie Research Fellow at the V&A. Her research focuses on performance, music and film studies, particularly in relation to modern and contemporary British and American literature. She completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge and she has published peer-reviewed research articles in academic journals such as Comparative Drama and English Studies in Africa. Her academic monograph, The New York Poetry-Video Revolution, is forthcoming with Edinburgh University Press.
