From Ghana to Antigua & Barbuda: The Life and Time of a National Hero
Discover the fascinating but bitter sweet story of Prince Klaas, the rebel slave and freedom fighter, brought to life through lectures, discussions, a gallery visit and performance poetry.

Prince Klaas was the enslaved Ghanaian who in 1701 aged ten, was stolen from the Gold Coast and taken to Antigua & Barbuda. Hear accounts from historians and experts retelling the narratives of Prince Klaas' and his planned elaborate revolt against slave owners that makes him today, Antigua & Barbuda's most notable and bravest hero. Pay homage to lesser known Caribbean freedom fighters, and recount wider representations of enslavement and its legacies. Light refreshments and a farewell rum punch will be served.
