A house of many sides, Blythe House is the V&A’s study and research centre in Hammersmith. The vast Grade II Edwardian building opened as the headquarters of the Post Office Savings Bank in 1903 and accommodated more than 4,000 bank clerks who handled 1,000,000 items of post a day and managed the bank accounts of over nine million people. Since 1984 the V&A has occupied a third of the building, opening its doors to researchers and students for the first time in October 1985.

Join Blythe House manager Glenn Benson for a tour of this fascinating building and hear about its history and how the museum cares for the stored collections, as well as stories of the many films that have been made at the site in recent years.

Refreshments on arrival included, photo ID required.
