Giles Duley: Photography, pop culture, and the legacy of war photo
Giles Duley is a British documentary photographer, campaigner, writer and chef. Originally a successful fashion and music photographer working with everyone from Mariah Carey to Lenny Kravitz, Duley’s work now focuses on the humanitarian impact of conflict. It is as bold and brave as he is: whilst working in Afghanistan in 2011, Duley was severely injured by an IED. As a result of his injuries he is a triple-amputee.

In addition to his globally recognised photography, he is the founder and CEO of Legacy of War Foundation which supports communities recovering from conflict, and collaborates with superstars and brands including Robert del Naja of Massive Attack, Banksy, Citizens of Humanity and Aesop to highlight the long-term impact of war.

Duley is advisor on corporate impact for Angelina Jolie’s New York-based culture and arts centre Atelier Jolie, and in 2022 was announced as the first United Nations Global Advocate for persons with disabilities in conflict and peacebuilding situations.
