Taking inspiration from V&A Storehouse and its surrounding architecture, Eddie Otchere will share his approach to seeing and photographing the built environment, drawing on his work documenting London’s council estates and looking photographically at the urban landscape.
Using a 35mm analogue camera loaded with black-and-white film, you’ll explore Storehouse, its displays and the buildings around the area, photographing a range of architectural styles, materials, details and spaces. Inside, you’ll look at architectural highlights including the mid-century Kaufmann Office Suite and the Brutalist Robin Hood Gardens display, as well as considering Storehouse itself and its distinctive interior architecture.
You’ll then return to the studio to develop your film and review your images with Eddie, exploring the different perspectives captured throughout the session. Eddie will also introduce you to his photographic process and scanning techniques.
No previous experience of analogue photography or film processing is required. Cameras, film and all necessary materials are provided.
You’ll leave with film, sleeves and cut into sixes and emailed a .jpg digital scan of your roll of film as a contact sheet.
