Couture Hand Sewing – Make a Cocktail Dress in Quarter Scale photo

This three-day museum based workshop will introduce you to advanced couture hand sewing techniques as you make a fully lined silk 'Little Black Dress' in quarter scale.

Using a pattern specifically designed for this course, you will learn how to mark and cut different types of luxury black fabric; how to insert a miniature centre back zip; use slip stitch and herringbone stitch to turn up two different types of blind hem, and make tiny rouleau loops for straps, sashes and bows. You will be shown how to press when working in silk and how to make and insert optional bust pads. The workshop ends with a photo-shoot of your finished miniature dress on a quarter scale tailors dummy.

Not suitable for beginners, previous hand sewing skills required.
