How much of a body survives translation into code? Since 2022, artist duo Operator (Ania Catherine and Dejha Ti) have explored this question in Human Unreadable, a work in three acts that combines choreography, code and the blockchain.
Join us to experience the livestream of the final act, Act III, as it is performed live at the
Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Act III is a multimedia performance that examines the artists' negotiations between the body, ambition, and technology. It uses 100 dance sequences, #2-101 from the
Human Unreadable collection, as the raw choreographic material. These are woven together autobiographically through scripted dialogue, performance art, lighting and scenic design, as well as set to an original score.
The livestream is itself a work of broadcast art: a live-mixed transmission, multiple camera perspectives edited in real time. It will be broadcast across multiple venues internationally. Operator’s Act III was commissioned by the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Part of the V&A’s
Digital Art Season: On Agency which runs until 3 December 2026, exploring the fluid boundaries between human and machine agency.
