Immerse yourself in the magic of Persian lustreware during this study day and explore the history and techniques of this centuries old craft. Throughout the day you’ll get up close to V&A collection objects with a handling session led by our expert V&A curators. You’ll also have the opportunity to try the techniques for yourself with a 2.5 hour masterclass led by Iranian ceramicist and academic, Dr Abbas Akbari…

Originally a professional painter, Abbas Akbari discovered ceramics when studying at Tehran University of Art. He continued to apply his painting skills to this new medium and he holds an MA and PhD in Art Research from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran. Over the last twenty years as a faculty member at Kashan University, Dr Akbari has been creating artistic works that exhibit the potential of contemporary Iranian national art.
