Brighton’s Royal Pavilion stands as a daring and enchanting expression of Regency aesthetics and European fascination with the so-called ‘Orient’. Drawing on extensive research and recent conservation work, art historian and curator Alexandra Loske will delve into how the sumptuous Chinoiserie interiors were conceived and restored. This talk celebrates the release of the first major publication on the interiors of the Royal Pavilion in over four decades, offering a fresh and richly illustrated perspective on the Pavilion’s time of creation and development, from its beginnings in the wake of the French Revolution to its legacy in the early Victorian era.

To mark the publication of The Royal Pavilion Brighton, the talk will be followed by a book signing with Alexandra Loske.
