Delve into what it means to be human with finalists Vasantha Yogananthan, Vanessa Winship, Gauri Gill and Yael Martínez together with Catherine Troiano, Curator of Photography at the V&A. Prix Pictet is a global photography award established fifteen years ago, which foregrounds some of the most urgent sustainability issues of our time.

An exhibition of work by the award’s twelve shortlisted photographers – ‘Prix Pictet Human’ – is on view in the Porter Gallery from 29 September to 22 October 2023, showcasing powerful photography exploring the theme of ‘Human’ selected for this cycle.

The shortlisted photographers explore the vast spectrum of human experiences, engage with our shared humanity, evaluate our roles as stewards of the planet and shed light on critical issues affecting the world and its inhabitants.

Drawing inspiration from both global events and personal experiences, their work spans documentary practice, portraiture, landscape, and studies of light and process. Each photographer offers a unique visual perspective, alerting us to the threats we face and serving as a powerful tool to raise awareness and inspire change.

The winner of Prix Pictet Human will be announced at a ceremony at the V&A on the 28 September.
