In Focus Tour: Laughing Matters

Discover how illuminating comedy can be a lens to uncover British culture and society.

  • Meeting Point, Grand Entrance, South Kensington

  • Free event

2019 is a significant year for the history of comedy and the UK. It marks the 40th anniversary of the birth of the alternative comedy scene and 50 years since Monty Python’s first broadcast and the premiere of Carry On Camping. It is also the year the UK will leave the EU – not so funny. On this unique tour you will discover the Laughing Matters: The State of a Nation display that explores comedy’s impact on society. It asks why and how has comedy been used as a marker of culture, and how does comedy affect the way we see ourselves and others?
