Elsa Schiaparelli lived a life as unconventional as the clothing she designed. After her birth in the Corsini Palace in Rome and an aristocratic early upbringing, Schiaparelli broke away from traditional constraints – much to her parents’ dismay – before escaping first to London, then to New York and Paris, to create an iconoclastic identity and a visionary brand that reflected her own reinvention.
Join Sonnet Stanfill, curator of Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art in conversation with Justine Picardie, author of Fashioning the Crown, for a discussion of Schiaparelli’s extraordinary story, which saw her become the leader of avant-garde style, with a client list of strong, independent-minded women from Wallis Simpson to Marlene Dietrich.
This talk will be held on Zoom and all ticket holders will receive a link to view the morning of the event. It will also be recorded for those not able to join live.
