Book Reading and Draw-along with Gabby Dawnay & Alex Barrow: If I Had a Penguin photo
Join us this festive season at this book reading and draw-along where you will hear author Gabby Dawnay read from If I Had a Penguin. Illustrator, Alex Barrow will then lead a draw-along inspired by the book, which will invite you to play and connect with others while developing illustration skills.

If I Had a Penguin is the tenth story in the If I Had a... series. It starts innocently enough when a single Adélie penguin appears at the front door. What our protagonist hasn’t anticipated is that this penguin is part of a colony... the book imagines a sequence of hilarious scenarios in which a colony of Adélie penguins visit the water park, the seaside, and the jazz club, before cramming themselves onto the sofa to watch a movie and into the bathtub before bed.

Alex Barrow is a London-based illustrator and the art director for and a regular contributor to OKIDO magazine. Gabby Dawnay is an award-winning children’s writer, screenwriter, poet and occasional illustrator.  Together they are the duo behind children’s picture books If I Had a Dinosaur, A House for Mouse, and A Song for Bear.

This event is aimed at children aged 3 - 8 and their adults. Both adults and children require tickets to enter, accepting babies-in-arms (under 12 months). Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event.

The events run at 11:00 and 13:00 and are 45 minutes long.
