ADEBOWALE
Directed by El Anthony and Claire Gordon-Webster
We follow Anthony, a 40-something Black-British actor, through his daily routine. Morning coffee, workout, audition, texts, calls. Beneath every moment, racial microaggressions sting and accumulate, each one swallowed in silence. When he instinctively crosses the street to avoid making a white woman uncomfortable, something inside him snaps. The next day repeats: coffee, workout, audition.. but this time, watching himself back, Anthony realises he's vanished - invisible, erased. In a surreal, formless state, he takes back the only thing that's his: his full name. "Anthony Adebowale." A reclamation of self, slowly pulling him back into being.
