Delivered by V&A experts, this one-week intensive course provides a unique opportunity for museum professionals working in collection care and management from all over the world to meet and share knowledge. With a vast collection of over 2 million objects spanning over 5,000 years of art and design history, our experienced team of collection managers, conservators and curators have developed outstanding expertise in caring for and managing the V&A collections. A mixture of talks and hands-on workshops will provide practical tips and advice that you can take away and apply to your own institution.

This five-day programme will provide participants with a practical overview of exploration of the key aspects of caring for and managing your collection. Sessions include the life cycle of the museum object, developing collections policies, plans and procedures, due diligence and provenance research, copyright, conservation and preventive conservation, object handling and courier training and digitisation.
All teaching is delivered by experts from the V&A collections management and conservation teams, with a guest session by a leading external authority on copyright, and includes both talks and hands-on workshops to suit different styles of learning. You will also be invited to share real examples of projects from experiences working in different institutions.
This course is only open to museum professionals with responsibilities related to collections care and management. Short Skype interviews will take place shortly after the application deadline of Sunday 15 December 2019.
