What is Seen and What is Not: Expressions on Class, Space and Identity

A half day symposium convened by Dr. Shehnaz Suterwalla and Osman Yousefzada exploring themes connected to the site specific interventions of Yousefzada’s show, ‘What is Seen and What is Not’. The symposium will explore ideas of *space, class, identity* as they emerge from and resonate across the works.

Scholars, activists, artists, and performers have been invited to open up a dialogue around the themes in three sessions:
1- ‘Space, Identity’, conversations around questions of who belongs, and how?
2- ‘Art Class’, exploring the barriers to entry in creative industries.
3- ‘Rituals and Remedies’, experimental articulations through performance.

‘What is Seen and What is Not’ is commissioned by the British Council, in partnership with the V&A and the Pakistan High Commission as part of the British Council’s festival season  Pakistan/UK: New Perspectives - marking Pakistan's 75th year as an independent nation.
