Since Tracy Chevalier’s 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' was published in 1999, it has sold more than 5 million copies, has been translated into 39 languages and was made into an Oscar-nominated film. On the 20th anniversary of this enduring modern classic, join the author in conversation with art historian Dr Janina Ramirez about Vermeer’s painting of the same name, and how it inspired her.

London-based author Tracy has written nine novels, including 'Remarkable Creatures', 'The Virgin Blue', 'Falling Angels', and 'The Lady and the Unicorn'.

Cultural historian, broadcaster, and author Dr Janina Ramirez is a lecturer at the University of Oxford, and brings a passion for communicating ideas about the past – which she shares through her new podcast, the Art Detective.
