In Practice: Colour Theory

Delving into the V&A’s Watercolour Collection, this session will give you an introduction to colour theory and how it can impact your practice. Artist Julia McKenzie will unpick examples from the Collection, analysing how colour theory has been used to produce beautiful pieces of art and design, across a range of time periods and cultures.

During the session, you will paint your own colour wheel, bringing colour theory to life. Julia will show you how to mix colours successfully, and how to place colours together to maximise their effects within your work. By the end of the session, you will have a completed colour wheel to use in future projects and a small individual painting, putting the theory into practice.
