In this special online session celebrating Earth Day, students will have the chance to learn about the importance of urban and wild meadow habitats, focussing on animals, bees, insects and flowers.

Discover beautiful objects and artworks from the V&A’s collections inspired by nature and make along with Alisa through a series of simple hands-on activities to create your own colourful spring meadow using a range of simple craft materials.

The session will guide your class through the development of a flat scenery collage with 3D origami details, exploring paper play and origami techniques, as well as getting inspiration for simple surface design ideas. The activities will give starting points to create a collaborative spring-like scene, which students can continue and develop after the session and offer opportunities to explore and discuss the importance of natural habitats.

This webinar will be streamed live to multiple schools and feature an opportunity for students and teachers to put questions to our facilitator, Alisa.

To make-along with this webinar, students will need the following simple materials: a selection of plain white A4 paper, a selection of coloured paper (preferably recycled), a glue stick, scissors, pencil, eraser, ruler, colour markers or coloured pencils.

Please note – teachers must remain with their students at all times during the session. The activity requires the use of child safety scissors. Please ensure that children have a good level of control when using scissors and are supervised carefully during the making activity.

Please book using your schools email. Once booked, you will receive an automated email to confirm that we have received your booking. You will receive an email via V&A Schools Zoom with your joining link and any supporting information, including materials and equipment required at least 1 day before the event. If you have any queries, please get in touch on schools@vam.ac.uk.
