Details

A storybook of travels through Turkey, this beautifully illustrated scarf in soft cotton features multi-coloured tiles depicting iconic Iznik art, traditional Ottoman motifs, and landmarks of Istanbul. Inspired by Ottoman miniature painting and Islamic illumination art, it's rich with decorative and narrative detail, proudly capturing the changing character of historic places through time.

Two examples the artist features; Flying a tall flag is The Maiden's Tower, also known as Leander's Tower, originally built in the Byzantine period to stand on a small islet at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus strait, off the coast of Üsküdar in Istanbul, Turkey; a well-known view from the city. Atop a rugged mountain is The Galata Tower, a medieval Genoese tower in the Galata part of the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, Turkey. Built as a watchtower at the highest point of the mostly demolished Walls of Galata, the tower is now a museum, and a symbol of Beyoğlu and Istanbul.

Designer, Sena Topalcı, has for 15 years been navigating the magical world of miniature art. By combining the elegant details of miniature art with fine workmanship, their designs reflect the aesthetic understanding of both the past and the present by blending traditional miniature elements with modern touches. All are designed and made in Turkey.

To maximise the lifespan of your piece, be gentle; hand wash at 30°C with a non-acidic detergent, avoid excessive rubbing, and iron on the reverse side.
